Tiramisu

The first time I tasted Tiramisu at a restaurant was really bad. So I always thought of making it at home. Getting the Mascarpone cheese was the critical part in India and once I got that I knew nothing could stop me from making it. Usually the Tiramisu is known to be the whole cake but I planned to make it in small servings. I liked it this way and hopefully you too will like that. In some places it is also known as Tiramisini but I like the name Tiramisu. The recipe if simple enough and you can make it any day to surprise your friends and family.

Ingredients-

  • 2 Eggs separated,
  • 400 gms Mascarpone cheese
  • 100 gms Caster sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Honey
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 1 Tbsp Cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup coffee liquor or Espresso (if you don't like coffee liquor)
  • 1 Sponge cake

Method-

  • Make a sponge cake the previous day and let it dry a bit.
  • Mix the egg yolks with the caster sugar till you get a creamy texture.
  • In another bowl beat the separated egg whites with pinch of salt. Beat till it becomes stiff.
  • Now add the Mascarpone cheese into the sugar yolk cream. Add the honey and keep beating.
  • Fold the beaten egg whites slowly into the mixture and keep beating.
  • Take the martini glass or champagne glass where you want to set the tiramisu and make a layer with the sponge cake.
  • Pour some coffee liquor /Espresso in it so that the whole cake is soaked in the liquor. Sprinkle little bit of cocoa powder on it and then pour some of the creamy mascarpone, egg and honey mixture on it. Again sprinkle some cocoa powder on it. Place another layer of espresso/coffee liquor soaked sponge cake and repeat the rest of the steps.
  • Keep it in the fridge and take it out 10-15 minutes prior to serving.

  1. Tiramisu is one of the most tricky desserts, it can easily be ruined and so easily be fabulous.
There are only a few restaurants I have been to that have got it right. Though, I could never even dare to try it on my own !
May be I will give your recipe a try :)
