They say- 2 to Tango...well we never did Tango Literally, but we often thought about things that are Tangy. Well, this is not something about Tangy- rather this is about madness and Flavor... This is about 4 vanilla beans and how they traveled from a far South Indian small town Dindigul to Northern part of India- Noida.
The story starts with a boy (Dwaipayan Chowdhury) . Eccentric. Mad. Crazy. Creative. Lazy. Foodie. Cook. And many more.... He stays in a small town in South India- Dindigul. One day he went to Kerala. Unlike many other, He bought spices and vanilla beans and many other things... Then he made that phone call....
There comes the girl (Nabanita Dutta). Far from Kerala, she stays in North India. Busy.Lazy.Crazy.Foodie...okay not finding anything in rhyme anymore... She got that call and started demanding for the south Indian Vanilla beans.
But how could the vanilla beans come from far south to far north? The boy got an Idea!!! (kya idea tha sirjii)....
He packed the beans. And couriered it to the girl. In the scorching summer of North India, the girl got the vanilla beans and started dreaming of..... BAKING with vanilla extract! Winter was nowhere near though, and baking was a painful task in such scorching heat....But she didn't worry....because it takes a few weeks to get the vanilla extract ready!! Here is how she made it-
Ingredients-
1. Vanilla bean
2. Vodka (avoid flavored vodka)
Method-
1. Slit the beans vertically.
2. Pour them into the vodka.
3. Keep it in a cool, dark n dry place for 2-3 weeks.
4. The vodka will become dark brown.
5. Vanilla extract is ready.
P.S- If you wish you can take the vodka out after 3-4 weeks when the Vodka will change color and become dark brown and refill with fresh vodka again. Do not repeat it more than twice.
